DID YOU KNOW?
Cats over 10 years of age tend to lose weight.

As the senses of taste and smell decrease so does the appetite.  Absorption of important vitamins and minerals may also diminish with age.  An appetizing diet, high in calories is important.

The Royal Canin Cat Encyclopedia

Mature 28™ Formula
For Cats From 10 to 15 Years of Age
  • Mature cats are more sensitive to calcium oxalate stones so a diet that promotes a higher urine pH is recommended.
  • A reduced level of phosphorus may help to protect kidney function in the aging cat.
  • Palatability is important since your aging cat may begin to experience a noticeable decline in her sense of taste and smell.

Key Features:

  • SOFTER KIBBLE
Easy to Chew Kibble That Requires Less Penetration for Breakage

Physiological Concern: Oral Lesions/Dental Problems - 60% of mature cats suffer from dental disease, resulting in oral pain.  Mature cats may begin to experience a noticeable decline in sense of taste and smell.  All of these factors result in decreased palatability.

Innovative Solution: Softer Kibble (Easy to Chew) - Customized kibble requires minimal penetration for breakage, thereby reducing pain and increasing palatability.
  • VITAMINS E & C AND GRAPEFRUIT EXTRACT
To Help Avoid Cellular Breakdown Associated With Aging

Physiological Concern: Cellular Breakdown - Aging is a complex phenomenon, during which, an increase in the production of free radicals can be observed.  The cat's defenses are insufficient to fight such oxidation phenomena.

Innovative Solution: Vitamins E & C and Grapefruit Extract - Antioxidants and polyphenols block free radicals to fight cellular aging.
  • OPTIMAL PHOSPHORUS LEVEL
    For Optimal Renal Function

Physiological Concern: Renal Function - Renal failure is a concern for mature cats.

Innovative Solution: Optimal Phosphorus Level (Reduced) - A reduced level of phosphorus helps to protect kidney function in the cat.

          Physiological Concern: Risk of Calcium
          Oxalate Stones

Innovative Solution: Non-Acidified Diet

Recommended Feeding Guide

When changing your pet's diet, gradually mix food over a 5-7 day period, increasing daily the amount of new food added so that 100% of the new food will be provided to the pet by day seven.

Food may be served right out of the bag or moistened with water, if desired.  You may wish to leave a daily portion of dry cat food out and available at all times so that cats may feed themselves.  Always remember to provide your pet with clean, fresh water at all times.  For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.

This is only a guide.  Optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, temperament, activity level and environment.
