SPOT or
Stopping Pet Overpopulation Together is an alliance of dog and cat rescuers,
veterinarians and pet lovers that has been formed in Atlanta with one goal in
mind --- to reduce the number of dogs and cats that are
killed in Atlanta area animal shelters. SPOT works on reaching its goal
through spay/neuter financial assistance programs, educational programs about
spay/neuter and responsible pet guardianship and the Pet Orphans adoption
website, among other
things.

The
numbers of dogs and cats that are killed every year in Atlanta area shelters
is staggering --- around 90,000 in
2001 alone. However, the
shelters should
not to be blamed
for this problem...the problem lies solely with the
general public who are
forcing the shelters to clean up their
"messes". Please read the following information to find out
ways that YOU can help reduce
the overwhelming
numbers of wonderful dogs and cats that are killed in
Atlanta area shelters
every year.
